And the Winners are...

And the Winners are...

News10 My Neighborhood ran a week-long sweepstakes contest last week.

We asked our vusers to submit their definition of HOOPLA, and when they did, their names were automatically submitted into a random drawing.  Then, four lucky winners would receive four passes each to Golfland SunSplash.

This dictionary quiz sweepstakes contest was inspired as part of News10's Reading Connects campaign which is all about connecting with our community to help improve the literacy rate.

Well, we received over 90 responses, and some people were thoughtful enough to email us a sentence with the word HOOPA in it.  Here are some examples:

2012 Weekly Challenge #23: The Power of Encouragement

G. K. Chesterton, an English journalist, once wrote, “The really great person is the person who makes every person feel great.”

When two people interact, they are both changed. The change can be for the better, or not. Whether our influence is helpful or hurtful, positive or negative, depends on whether we give each other the gift of encouragement.

Run with Nature in Folsom Saturday, May 12

Participation in Folsom’s popular Run with Nature 10K, 5K and Wild Way is an annual tradition for many local families and runners.  This year’s event will be held on Saturday morning, May 12 at Folsom City Lions Park.

Run with Nature includes a 10K course over the Folsom Lake Crossing bridge and down the American River Parkway; a 5K run and a non-competitive 5K walk; and a free one-half mile youth run through the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary.

Adventuresome individuals or groups may sign-up for the Wild Way, a two-plus mile run over assorted terrain, hills, fences, stairs and logs spanning a mud obstacle.  The Wild Way is also a great spectator sport.

Run with Nature also includes a post-race party, vendor fair, awards, raffles and refreshments at City Lions Park.  Learn more, or sign up to participate or volunteer at www.RunWithNature.com.
