Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. - Brewers and ballplayers have always gone together, especially in Sacramento. With a team sponsored by a major brewery, the bases may not have been the only thing loaded. Take a walk-off and discover the hidden history of the town’s baseball teams – the colorful players, dreaded umpires, and the brewers that kept the system lubricated. No beer will be served at this event, but we will feature a special guest appearance by Dinger, the Sacramento River Cats mascot!

Saturday, April 22, 2017, 10:00a-12:00p. Join Rosarians Anita Clevenger and others to learn everything you always wanted to know about heritage roses. The class will include a fascinating lecture and tour of the rose garden. The class is free but donations are gratefully accepted and help support rose garden operations.

Amgen Tour of CA set to pass through West Sacramento again

Routes have been announced for the Amgen Tour of California , and once again, the riders will be heading through West Sacramento. in May. Heads up, several roads will be closed while racers pass through and reopened upon their exit.

Rose propagation class

Historic Rose Garden volunteer propagators will conduct a hands-on rose propagation workshop to teach participants how to select the best plant material, prepare the cuttings and root them using the “terrarium” approach. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to take and stick a few cuttings of their own to take home with them. The class is free but donations are gratefully accepted and help support rose garden operations.
