SHINGLE SPRINGS — A third arrest connected to child pornography was made among students at Ponderosa High School in a week’s time on Tuesday.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department said a 16 year-old boy was arrested for allegedly showing nude photos of an underage girl to other students.

Deputies said the same boy also allegedly inappropriately touched another girl at school.

On Friday ABC 10 learned two other teen boys were arrested for sharing a video of consensual sex between a boy and girl. Investigators said a third boy secretly video tapped the incident without the girl’s knowledge and then the boys shared the video with others.

Now parents are reacting to the newest incident.

“I think it’s really disturbing and it’s sad and I think as parents all we can do is try to continuously communicate with our kids and give them a strong message of what’s right and what’s wrong,” said Stephanie, a high school parent who didn’t want to share her last name.

Many parents said they already had conversations with their children about the first incident and now they plan to again.

“You talk honestly with your kids and try to tell them that there’s some situations like that, that have consequences that maybe you never thought of,” said parent Sid Bazett.

Former state and federal prosecutor Bill Portanova said the consequences of child porn can last forever.

“It just has to be a photograph of a sexual nature, nude, or worse of a minor, and if you possess it you’re guilty of what could be prosecuted as a felony that might give you a lifetime of sexual registration with law enforcement, forever,” Portanova said.

He said it doesn’t matter if something was consensual, it is in fact illegal.

“The easy answer here is everybody is guilty. Kids cannot give each other permission to do this. So if two 16 year-old's get together and agree to do it and create these images, they are both guilty of creating child pornography if it’s sexual," Portanova said.

He said if child porn exists it should be considered “radioactive” and said it’s only a matter of time before it’s caught.

“Either because it’s in their possession here, in their pocket, in their phone, or in the cloud there or on a backup on their computer and then they sell their computer and then somebody else downloads it, the traces of this digital evidence are everywhere,” Portanova said.

Portanova said this incident is not isolated to Ponderosa High School.

"There is nothing different about this high school than any other high school in Northern California," Portanova said. "These things are happening."
