Bomb threat call prompts school lockdowns in Placerville

Authorities have lifted lockdowns at four school/college campuses in Placerville that were ordered due to a bomb threat.

Lt. Tom Murdoch with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said the lockdowns ended at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday after deputies and other law enforcement officers made thorough searches of Indian Creek School, Charter Community School, the Placerville branch of Folsom Lake College, and the El Dorado County Office of Education.

No explosive devices were found.

According to Murdoch, the sheriff's office received a call at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday about an individual who threatened to blow up Folsom Lake College. The person reportedly also had a handgun.

The description of the person was that of a man in his 40s, white, 6 feet tall and with long, dark, brown/gray hair. He wore a black t-shirt and khaki pants.

Murdoch said deputies questioned a person located at the college who matched the description. About 2:18 p.m. another man at the college was detained for questioning as well. Both individuals were released.
