El Dorado Hills man indicted for embezzlement

A El Dorado Hills man was indicted Wednesday on three counts of wire fraud in connection will allegations he stole more than $400,000 from an area company, according to federal prosecutors.

Jeffrey Lamson, 51, was a controller for the company located in Sacramento and Placer counties, according to court documents. He has been accused of taking company funds for himself and others to pay a fake vendor for services that were never performed, said Lauren Horwood, spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of California.

The thefts were alleged to have been committed from at least 2009 through 2011.

Horwood said if Lamson is convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gain or loss caused by the fraud.
