American Heart Association Seeks Heart-Healthy Woman For Go Red Total Makeover

44 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease and stroke and each of them have a story to tell. Join ABC10’s Dina Kupfer at The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement as she emcees the Go Red Total Makeover on Saturday, February 6 at Arden Fair from 10am to 2pm. The event will spotlight one local heart-healthy woman who is in the process of making herself over from the inside out.

Nominees should be a female resident within the community or surrounding area and have taken action to improve her heart health.  The heart-healthy makeover recipient will receive a $500 Macy’s gift card at the Go Red Total Makeover event, and additionally, will participate in local media and in-studio interviews.

You heard me. Put it down. You don’t need that last Milky Way. No seriously, you don’t. Will one more kill you? No. But you don’t need it. Step away. Throw it away. Like deep down in the trash so you aren’t tempted to dig it out later in a moment of weakness. Is it in there? Deep down? Good. Now get out of the house and go for a walk. Crisis adverted.

I think we can officially welcome Autumn at this point since it doesn’t appear it will hit 90 degrees again in the coming weeks. So welcome beautiful cool, crisp, air. Bright, deep, gorgeous fall colors, and every holiday that center’s around eating. We here at Mama Bootcamp welcome you with open arms. (notice I did not say open mouths?) but open arms yes, because it is the most wonderful time of the year!

What do you do when your bootcamp coach says "time for pushups?" I'm willing to bet you groan, shoot a dirty look or, at a minimum roll your eyes. Admit it - you know its true!

Pushups aren't the easiest thing in the world to do. But they are worth every bit of effort you put into them. Pushups work SO many muscle groups. Primarily, they work your deltoids (shoulders), triceps (back of the upper arm) and pectorals (chest).
