Tuesday's News10 Good Morning: Chef Jon Wheeler on making fun, affordable school snacks

You've just packed a great lunch box filled with nutritious snacks for your kids, but how do you know they're even eating the stuff at school?

On Tuesday's News10 Good Morning from 5-7 a.m., Jon Wheeler, local chef and public school instructor of culinary arts, will share his tips for making healthy, affordable and fun snacks for your kids. He'll also tell you how to safely pack your snacks so they don't spoil.

After you see Wheeler's segments with News10's Dan Elliott and Keba Arnold, your kids will think a real chef is preparing their snacks and brown bag lunches.

Chocolate Nutella Cupcakes

Chocolate Nutella Cupcakes

Hey, remember when I said I’d be posting healthy recipes in July? Ha! Since then I’ve shared recipes for mojito popsicles, chocolate cupcakes, blood orange sorbet, and now chocolate Nutella cupcakes (also, next up: carrot cake cupcakes). So, lesson learned: don’t listen to me and don’t expect anything healthy when you visit this blog!

Friday Night at the Winery

Friday Night at the Winery

Remember when Friday night meant it was pizza night?  Now, there is a great place to enjoy a Friday pizza night as an adult...with an adult beverage or two and some gourmet wood fired pizzas.

Don't tell anyone about this because I don't want it to get too popular, but Charles B. Mitchell winery in Fairplay, CA hosts an all you can eat wood fired pizza night. When the weather is balmy, the pizza is served right under the oak trees just outside the winery itself. When the weather is a bit chilly, they set up tables inside the warehouse where the barrels & stills are...do they use stills in wine making? Whatever they are called, they are these big shiny metal contraptions that make wine.

What's really great is that you can do a little wine tasting before dinner. Just sashay up to the counter and pick out the bottle you'd like to buy with your food. The tasting room closes to non-pizza eaters at 5:00 PM.
