Man found dead in burned apartment
Crime

EL DORADO HILLS, CA - An El Dorado Hills man in his 50s died when his downstairs unit at Forest Village Apartments on Applegrove Circle caught fire Saturday morning.

El Dorado Hills Fire Department answered a call of a residential fire and found smoke coming out from under the front door and the smoke alarms going off. Crew members discovered the victim dead in his chair surrounded by burned garbage and hundreds of TV dinners.

The man's name hasn't been released.

Fire Chief Dave Roberts said it appeared to be the "classic smoking in a chair and falling asleep" scenario. Roberts also commented the fire could have been a real disaster if the fire had spread out to the other units.
