Deputies: Man arrested after selling morphine, meth, heroin to undercover detectives

PLACERVILLE, Calif. - A man was arrested earlier this month following an undercover drug-buying sting dating back to January.

According to El Dorado County Sheriff's Lieutenant Tim Becker, deputies launched the undercover operation following accusations that 51-year-old parolee Ronnie Chambers threatened the life of another man in January.

During the operation, undercover detectives learned Chambers was looking to sell cocaine, said Becker.

A deal was then set up for detectives to purchase $200 worth of cocaine from Chambers in Placerville. But after purchasing the substance, authorities determined it to be crushed pills containing morphine, said Becker.

Detectives called Chambers, complaining they were displeased with the purchase and demanded their money or the cocaine originally promised. Chambers agreed to provide half the cocaine and half the money, said Becker.

According to Becker, undercover detectives met with Chambers in Feb. when he provided them $100 of the original $200 and a small amount of crystal methamphetamine.

Two months later, Chambers contacted the undercover detectives and offered to sell them heroin, Becker said.

Detectives met with Chambers later that day, purchased the heroin and arrested Chambers and his passenger, Lauren Bond, 22, at the scene, said Becker.

Bond, a Shingle Springs resident was in possession of narcotics paraphernalia at the time and had an active narcotics warrant out for her arrest, said Becker.

Chambers was charged with five felony charges and probation violation. He remains in custody without bail.
