Midtown Association continues elevated efforts to find solutions for local homeless

Committed to fostering a center for culture, creativity and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core, the Midtown Association recently increased its already diligent efforts to connect those facing homelessness with much-needed services to get them off the streets and into stable supported living situations. During the month of March 2018, the Midtown Association added three additional layers to its suite of education, networking and outreach services that resulted in the placement of two previously homeless individuals in housing situations and the coordination of multiple networking successes that pave the way for future progress.

A recent study of state capital cities ranked Sacramento in the bottom half of livability. 
The study conducted by personal financial website WalletHub, found Sacramento ranked 27th overall among 50 rated cities. The top honors went to Austin, Texas while Trenton, New Jersey occupied the bottom spot.
In their rankings, WalletHub compared all 50 capital cities across 51 key indicators including affordability, economic strength, quality of education, health, and overall living standards. Also included was the number of ... Read More

Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. For the 100th anniversary of the US entry into World War One, meet the local guys who were “over there” in the trenches and in the bi-planes, in battles like Meuse-Argonne, St. Mihiel, and Alsace and Lorraine. We’ll also share stories of our brave veterans of numerous other conflicts.

The Historic City Cemetery is located at 1000 Broadway, Sacramento. There is free parking on surrounding streets. Tours are free; however, donations are appreciated and benefit cemetery preservation. For more information, call 916-448-0811.

On any normal day, Marco Guzman, Jr. is a supervisor for Sutter Medical Foundation’s(SMF) Cardiology, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine services, based in care centers located in Fairfield, CA.

But recently, on a day that by any stretch of the imagination was not normal, Marco the supervisor became “Marco the superfriend” and he, along with a few of his West Coast Avengers teammates, helped bring some joy to people dealing with the devastating wild fires in California’s wine country.

Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. We will teach you how to deadhead spent blooms from the rosebushes and how tidying up the garden encourages repeat blooming of the roses in the Historic Rose Garden.

If possible bring your own gloves and tools, but we will also provide tools if you need them. Light refreshments of coffee and pastries will be served. Late risers welcome!
