The CP Skate Park opened in April of 2001, costing taxpayers almost $Three Hundred thousand dollars.  It not only has given a home to skate Boarders but stopped trespassing and other infractions given to otherwise “a great group of kids.”  In addition it allowed for schools, shopping centers, libraries and other public places to resume their business without distractions from skate boarding.

In the past 2 weeks I have received countless letters and calls from not only kids but teachers, pleading for their students to have a place to be active, as well as from ministers and numerous business owners asking for my help in ensuring the  re-opening of the CP Skate Park. –A safe haven for Skate boarders and the only legal place for them to gather and skate with little inconvenience or cost to anyone else.

Without merit a small group asked that the park be closed and unjustly and out of proper protocol the Board of Directors agreed to close it without receiving any proposal of “what would be done”,  “how long it would take” and WHY and “what would it achieve” to have the park closed during this time.

I feel this group should have the trust that the El Dorado county Sheriff’s Department can handle a group of skaters in a cage as the man power should be easier in one place than all over CP. If that is not the case then possibly randomly during open hours to ensure respect is being given to all, The CP CSD should take a few minutes just a few times a day to visit the park and instill some random and occasional supervision. This could possibly even be done by a park member in the area so as to have funding not be an issue.

In the meantime, this park should be re-opened immediately in the best interest of the community.
