The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary will soon be ablaze with holiday lights, providing a beautiful backdrop for a unique family experience this holiday season.  Wild Nights & Holiday Lights kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 and continues from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 8-9 and Dec.

Your Dog On A Walk, a Sacramento area pet sitting and dog walking business created to assist busy and vacationing pet owners just launched a new page on their website featuring a collection of Boredom Busting Dog Toys just in time for the holidays.

Watch the special Folsom Zoo Sanctuary animals devour their festive Thanksgiving meals (including pumpkin pie) during the annual Thanksgiving Feast for the Animals, 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22.

Folsom’s 10th Annual Bark ‘n’ Splash Bash runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Folsom Aquatic Center, 1200 Riley St. 


Dogs will be allowed by swim and frolic in the activity pool, which features a pooch-pleasing play structure and sloped beach-style entry into the water.  (As standard post-season procedure, the pool will be drained, sanitized and inspected after the event.)

For the water-shy, there's abundant lawn for romping, lounging and doggie socializing.  Dog-related groups and vendors will be on hand to provide information and products.

EL DORADO HILLS CA - Without the help of the community or a settlement with the banks, The Grace Foundation of Northern California may have to close permanently.

Grace, an equine rescue facility, has come under financial strain following the rescue of dozens of horses from a Susanville ranch, according to the facility’s representatives.

Take Your Family to the "Farm" at Folsom Zoo Sanctuary Sept. 29

Enjoy a family friendly experience at the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary's "Down on the Farm" event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. 

Mini-horse Dasher will be on hand for gentle petting.  Visit donkeys Spicy Jalepeno and Rosarita.  Learn why livestock guarding dogs are important.  Test yourself at the "Name the Vegetables" table.  Meet friendly young goats, roosters and hens.  Kids may create their own alpaca wool picture.  More fun at 11 a.m. as Zoo pigs squeal when brunch is served.

The Zoo Sanctuary is located in Folsom City Park at Natoma and Stafford Streets, 403 Stafford St, Folsom, CA 95630.

Weekend fees:  ages 13 and up, $6; 2 - 12 $5; 0 - 1 free; seniors 65+ $5.
